Cow Father is a NO GO

Last night myself and seven friends decided to go for dinner at a restaurant we know is pretty good. But on my arrival I discovered that they had changed the name of the restaurant from Casa Da Galinha to Cow Father.

I swear it was like they changed the name from when I booked the table at 10:00am and 7pm when we arrived. I had also requested a smoking section as most of us are smokers and when we were seated I confirmed it was the smoking section. Only to be told that It wasn’t when I asked for an ash tray, so not sure as to if we could or not we scoped out the restaurant to see if anyone else was smoking and once we saw there was, we lit up.

We had to use our tins from our drinks as ashtrays because the person I originally asked failed to bring us one. Once all of us had arrived and had our first drink and ordering our second we noticed we hadn’t been offered menus and so had to request menus from the waiters.

The waiters seemed to be a little lost and it literally felt like we had been there for about an hour and half before we got to even see what they had to offer on their menu. We then all decided what we wanted and after having to chase up another waiter to order our food we relaxed in ordering more drinks and chatting and catching up with each other as most of us haven’t seen each other in a while.

About an hour later our food started to arrive. I had ordered the rump steak with chips and no vegetables and I got this dry, tasteless, cold piece of meat and four chips spread out in a line across my plate. When I cut into my steak and tried it, it was literally battered in salt and thrown on the grill. So I decided no thank you I don’t wish to eat this I tried one of four chips and surprise, surprise they weren’t cooked all the way through. When looking and asking everyone else there each of them complained and that there sauces which are only in two variants arrived by the time we were half way through our meals. I was also told the chicken tasted bloody.

Once we had either finished or given up with our meals we tried to not let the poor service and the bad joke of food quality that was served to us not affect our main purpose for the evening which wasn’t to try new things but more to catch up. So for us the entire evening wasn’t a disaster but if you’re looking for a nice night out in Rivonia, AVOID Cow father at all costs. Rather try somewhere else like the Spur down the road at Morning glen shopping centre; At least you will enjoy your meal. But all of this could have been prevented if Dinning out website was an updated site. As well as if the restaurant changed its voice mail.
