WE’RE ALL AFRICAN

This is, this year’s theme, and it was announced at the annual LGBT Pride Annual General Meeting. Which was, open to the public to attend on the 25th of April at Zoo Lake Sports club. We are still marching as we have been for the few years at Zoo Lake in Rosebank, Johannesburg. This is the 21st Joburg pride.

The date for this much widely anticipated event has been announced as the 2nd of October 2010. And the reason I say it’s a much widely anticipated event is because this event draws crowds of up to 15 000 people. And the most amazing part of this event is it bring not only the gays, lesbians, transgender and bisexual people but straight people as well.

Last year’s pride was my best pride ever. And I have attended quite a lot of the pride marches. This year I marched the entire march with some friends. It was the first time I had marched. I met some interesting people and bumped into old friends. Everywhere you look there are people in costume or in almost nothing at all. Good looking men and women of all races. I caught myself having a good look at what was on offer. But it seriously was just awesome. The party in the park by the sports club was totally wicked. I danced all day. What a party. And seriously, I advice everyone to come and support gay people, gay people’s rights, a gay friend, work colleague, march with us exercise purpose, Whatever even if you just feel like a huge party in the park in the middle of Joburg. It really isn’t an event one should miss.

Last year we had 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s support, From the music to Jeremy Mansfield to Pabi Maloi to even have Springbok wing James Small come out and join us in the Zoo Lake Sports Club. I’m sure 94.7 Highveld Stereo will be there again to support us and hopefully with more of the crew. 5Fm, usually gets involved in the main after party, Having DJ’s like DJ Fresh and Euphonic.

If you go to their website www.joburgpride.org you will find all the information with regards to the route we will be marching, registering your floats, if you want to have a stall in the flea market at the event, what the DJ line up will be. Photos of previous pride march’s. Where the after party/parties will be held. Personally I think this is a great event to try market your company.

As well as at Pride. With 15 000 people and still growing why not have a float or have a stall. As well as I am sure many other ways one can be involved in this event, If you would like to get in contact with the Joburg pride administrator for any information that you may need on this event. Her name is Natasha Quinn,
