Yeah that’s right, my favourite friend and my wheels has been a real pain in my side for the most part of me owning her. Yes I love my bike and her fuel economy and its pros for traffic and stuff but yeah for the amount of troubles I have had and I must admit I am curious to know if other Vuka drivers are having similar problems.
Since I got my bike in August 2009, I received a bike missing or having 3 rusty bolts, then I had my 500km tune up and then my body starts to crack on both sides of the bike. And then one morning I was driving down Witkoppen from Bowling when they were doing the highway there. And this big truck almost knocked me off my bike because my back indicator wasn’t working. So he couldn’t see me turning right. This was right after my service. I then had to return to Vuka every week for light bulbs and then finally someone allowed me a warranty claim to replace my body that was about to snap in half until February 2010 and then after repeated visits again after for light bulbs they decided to take my bike to the warehouse to be tested, where it stayed there for a week. And when I got it back on the way home I was hooted at for not indicating when I was and I was like your freaking kidding me I am literally turning onto my street and the light bulbs can’t even last the trip home from the shop. So I get home and call them immediately only to be told to bring it back in and they will change the entire back light system.
Then last week whilst driving the very bumpy roads of Sandton my mirror came flying off and got smashed by the vehicles behind me. So I drove to Vuka to get a new one but couldn’t because they were closed, so then started my drive back home. On my way home my bike backfired and did something and since then has started sounding like a tractor or Harley. It’s kinda cool but not because I can’t ride it. And why do I know, because I looked underneath it and the screw that holds two parts of the exhaust together is missing. And when I got home I was obviously looking as to why my bike was making such a strange noise. And noticed that my bike’s body has now cracked again, in the same place as my previous body.
But here is the interesting thing, My sisters bike is exactly the same as mine and doesn’t even have half the km’s on it and just had its first service and its body is cracked in exactly the same place as my bike both times. As well as she too has had to have the screw replaced where mine is missing, by my exhaust.
So personally if you’re looking at a Vuka I would advise you to walk right on by. If you want problems and poor service then buy it. But for me I wish I hadn’t gone with it and gone Vuka. And now it seems Vuka have Liquidated and now all the Vuka South Africa drivers can’t get their bikes serviced, maintained and or get any parts for these bikes. My advice to you is chose wisely when buying a Bike. I didn’t and I regret it. The next bike I get will be bigger and better and hopefully hassle free.
